Life hasn't always been a beach.  Growing up "pond-hopping" with his brother in Charlotte, NC, Buck has always had a fishing pole in his hand.  The Bishop Boys have always been competitive, and it was that competition that drove Buck to become a better angler.  In high school, Buck moved from the city to The Lowcountry where he quickly became addicted to saltwater fishing.  Buck and his friends would fish before and after school.  While living in Murrells Inlet, Buck worked on the head boats as a mate.  Shortly thereafter, he was graduated from the "tourist boats" to the commercial boats running weeklong trips.  

While working full time as a carpenter,  fishing had more or less taken a backseat to life.  In fact, it wasn't until 2018 that Buck was actively fishing again.  Once he had his line in the water again, it was like not a day had gone by.  He had heard and read about surf fishing and wanted to see what all the buzz was about. After "doin' some homework", as Buck puts it, he decided to give it a shot, or "the old college try."  After all, he does live on an island, why not make the most of it?!  Having grown up with a love of fishing and developed a love for the beach as well, surf fishing was a no-brainer combination.  The fact that he was good was just icing on the cake.  "I got good enough that my friends asked me to take them out.  Then they would ask me to take their friends.  Eventually I had a guy ask me how much I was charging.  When I told him I wasn't he handed me $100 and said, 'you should be, this is great!' and that's when the seed was planted."   

"That's when the addiction kicked in and I started nerding out about surf fishing"  Buck goes on to explain that he dedicated most of his free time to learning as much as he could about the sport.  From pouring his own Sputnik weights designed specifically for surf fishing and a variety of hand tied rigs, to custom fishing poles and rod/reel repair, it's safe to say that he has indeed "done his homework."
